The Essence Fest disclosed on April 6, that it will continue its tradition this year with four days of music and entertainment, since its first launch in 1994. The annual festival will run from June 30 to July 2, where the concert series will be headlined by Diana Ross, Mary J. Blige and Chance the Rapper. Apart from the concerts at night, the festival will also feature many free day-time events at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center such as the Essence Empowerment Experience, Beauty and Style Expo, Path-to-Power Conference and the All Access Experience. All these events will feature empowerment seminars, panel discussions and talks, along with celebrity sightings.
The following nightly lineup was released by Essence Fest for 2017:
Friday, June 30: Diana Ross, John Legend, India.Arie, Rhonda Ross, Afrika Mamas, AfroSoul, Doug E Fresh, Emily Estefan, Gallant, Heels Over Head, Kelly Price, Moses Sumney, PJ Morton, Ro James and Yuna.
Saturday, July 1: Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Chaka Khan, Jazmine Sullivan, Monica, Ari Lennox, Jhene Aiko, Lalah Hathaway, Lizzo, Michel’le, PJ, Remy Ma, Teyana Taylor and The Jones Girls ft. Shirley Jones.
Sunday, July 2: Chance the Rapper, Master P, Mia X, Mystikal, Silkk, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Solange, Ithwasa Lekhansela, BJ the Chicago Kid, Chloe x Halle, Daley, Elle Varner, June’s Diary, Leela James, Mayah Dyson, Shaggy, Sir the Baptist, Tweet and Xscape.
The festival also revealed that single-day tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 6. They reportedly start at $50 per person at night. Both single-day and three-day packages are still available via Ticket Master.
