The Dragon Con expects more than 82,000 to join in on the fun. This was Dragon Con’s 31st year as a representative of pop culture. Fans sci-fi, fantasy and gaming attended the convention from all over the country to express their love for the genres and meet their favorite authors, actors and artists.
Dragon Con will be held from September 1 to September 4, which means it will make it for Labor Day- Atlanta’s favorite holiday. The event will feature activities at AmericasMart Buildings #1 and #2 and five host hotels – Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Marriott Marquis, Hilton Atlanta, Westin Peachtree, and Sheraton Atlanta.
More than 400 guests are scheduled to appear, participate in panel discussions and address fans. The guests belong to the many genres of movies, television, comics, literature and others. “We are delighted to have so many guests from so many of today’s most popular or, in the case of classic science fiction, best loved shows and movies to join us this year,” convention co-chair Rachel Reeves said.
Some of this year’s top guests include the legendary Stan Lee, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Ming-Na Wen, the iconic John Cusack, Firefly’s Nathan Fillion and Star Trek’s William Shatner.
Martin P. Robinson and Lisa Henson are part of a strong puppetry guest group. Robinson is best known for performing Mr. Snuffleupagus, Telly Monster, and Slimey the Worm on Sesame Street since 1981, whereas Henson is the chief executive of The Jim Henson Company.
Star Trek die-hards will be able to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation with several main characters including Jonathan Frakes, Michael Dorn, Gates McFadden, Brent Spiner, and Marina Sirtis.
